A$AP Rocky in Alpinestars RSRV
BREAK NECKS, STAY SAFE, DON’T BE DUMB.
A$AP ROCKY WEARS CUSTOM ALPINESTARS RSRV
A$AP ROCKY taps RSRV as he presides over LA in a suit of armor fit for a Fashion Killa.
Pretty Flacko is in his cinematic era. Fresh off the genre-mashing collabs with Tim Burton and Danny Elfman, A$AP Rocky carried that theatrical energy into the monumental Don’t Be Dumb tour. The DBD stage design is a magnum opus in post-apocalyptic, industrial world-building. It is a dense tapestry of mechanical motifs, tactical palettes, and militaristic grit. When the tour touched down in Los Angeles, Rocky tapped the RSRV design crew to create a uniform that didn't just reflect the stage’s epic scenography, but also performed. You know the crew came through.
Analyzing the world of Don't Be Dumb, the RSRV team mapped a direct line between Rocky’s visual universe, vintage military uniforms, and the protective armor worn by Alpinestars athletes, specifically desert endurance racers. The resulting custom 1-of-1 fit explores the collision point of the DBD creative vision and Alpinestars' technical legacy.
The fuselage of the fit is a bespoke canvas jumpsuit featuring an olive drab and black fatigue-inspired palette, reinforced padded sleeves, and oversized cargo pockets. Over the base, the team layered a black padded nylon vest, drawing design cues and parts from Alpinestars’ Tech-Air® airbag technology. Archival components and vintage military pieces were repurposed and reimagined through the DBD lens and used throughout the kit. Deadstock Alpinestars shoulder protectors and upper arm armor added additional visual imposition.
A mesh veil extended the aesthetic of safety up top, while Alpinestars Tech 3 boots told a similar story at the feet. Every detail articulated Alpinestars' protective narrative, as well as the world-building and storytelling of Rocky’s performance. Oversized, tactical, and intricately detailed, the RSRV kit seamlessly bridged the gap between stage presence and functional armor. That’s a gap that RSRV occupies well. Shoutout Flacko for bringing the vision and letting RSRV mind the gap.
